About this Event
Join us for a Paddle & Clear Marine Debris & Plastic: Kayak, Canoe + SUP Water Cleanup! Cleanup teams will head out on the water using kayaks, canoes and stand-up paddleboards to tackle trash on estuary beaches.
Two Ways to Join 🛶
1. Bring Your Own Kayak, SUP, Canoe
Location: Jack London Aquatic Center (JLAC) at 115 Embarcadero, Oakland, CA 94606
Arrival Time: 8:30 AM
· Unload gear, get ready to paddle and get in line to sign waivers at 8:30AM
· Register on this event page if bringing your own kayak/canoe/SUP
2. Rent a Kayak from California Canoe & Kayak (CCK)
Location: California Canoe & Kayak at 409 Water Street, Oakland, CA 94607
Arrival Time: 8:00 AM
On Water By:8:20 AM
Give yourself time to park your car, gear up and sign the CCK waiver. Must be on the water to push off from CCK dock at 9:20 AM - please be on time.
· CCK will send instructions to you via their registration
· Kayaks will be at CCK and not JLAC - you will paddle to JLAC

👨👩👧 Youth Participation
· Minimum age: 13
· Parent or legal guardian must attend
· Parent/guardian must sign youth waiver
💪 Fitness Requirements
· Good level of fitness required
· Expect to get in and out of kayaks from docks several times
· This is a fun physical event
👟 Event Must-Haves 🎒
· Sturdy-soled shoes - closed toe (for paddling and walking shoreline)
· Water bottle, wear layers and snacks
· Sun protection (hat, sunscreen, layers)

SCHEDULE:
8:30 - 8:50 AM SIGN IN - All volunteers load gear and sign waivers at JLAC.
8:50 AM to 11:30 PM - TRASH CLEAN UP. We have a lot of garbage to GET.
11:40 PM - CCK PADDLERS BACK TO CCK
11:40 - 12 :00 PM THANK YOU! We'll come back together and load up the City of Oakland dumpster and TAKE PICTURES OF YOU BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE!
BRING: Water, snacks, a hat, sunscreen, an extra layer, and sturdy shoes. Cleanup supplies will be provided on site, but feel free to bring your own grabber, gloves, buckets, or bags if you prefer!

Our cleanups are very large events and take months to prepare. Your donation will go 100% into producing and creating this LARGE event. IHOAE is fiscally sponsored by the Oakland Parks and Recreation Foundation - your donation will show up as Oakland Parks and Recreation Foundation - but it will go to IHOAE.

I HEART OAKLAND ALAMEDA GARBAGE CLEAN UPS We organize public waterfront and land cleanups. Our cleanup events draw anywhere from 50 to 200 volunteers, and we gather an estimated 600 to over 2000 pounds of garbage PER cleanup. This groups efforts have been recognized by the City of Oakland and the County of Alameda's Clean Water Project for it's outstanding efforts. This is a volunteer group organized by Mary Spicer. CALIFORNIA CANOE AND KAYAK: www.calkayak.com California Canoe and Kayak has been getting folks out paddling on the Bay since 1972! They're a tried and true local treasure, and generously support this clean up and provide SUPER discounted watercraft rentals to our Estuary Paddle Cleanups and have for 5 years. They have 2 locations on the Oakland Estuary at Jack London and their new SUPER cool store at Brooklyn Basin.

We believe in creating enduring relationships among our rowers as we serve our diverse community. We are proud of sponsoring and encouraging scholastic rowing programs in Oakland schools.
