Seattle friends —On Sunday, March 15, I’m hosting an open, public art night at Vermilion on Capitol Hill, and you are formally invited into the pleasant, slightly glue-scented chaos.
This is part of The Gravity Project — a Seattle-based creative community focused on low-pressure, hands-on art and human connection — and this session is all about making your own punk-rock style pins.
We’ll have a full setup: magazine cutouts, pens, paint, collage materials, and a real-deal pin press on site so you can design and assemble wearable buttons from scratch. Denim jackets, tote bags, instrument straps, battle vests — all of these improve dramatically with handmade insignia, and we will be manufacturing that improvement in real time.
It’s also potluck-style — if you feel inclined, bring something to share, or bring extra art supplies to throw into the communal pile. Totally optional, always appreciated.
You do not need to be “artistic.”
You do not need to know anyone.
You do not need to prepare anything except maybe the part of your brain that likes making small, satisfying objects with other humans in the room.
There will be food. There will be good people. There will be tables covered in the usual creative sprawl that tends to emerge when strangers sit down and start making things together.
If you’ve been looking for a low-stakes way to plug into Seattle’s creative underground — or you just want to make something weird and wearable on a Sunday evening — come through.
