The Grand Temples of T. H. Pattinson
‘An Afternoon of Esoteric Symbolism, History & New Horizons’
Melissa Seims & Fleur Shearman will explore the remarkable life and legacy of Thomas Henry Pattinson—watchmaker, Mason, occultist, and one of the key figures behind a series of extraordinary Egyptian and esoteric temples in Bradford and Baildon. From the Golden Dawn’s Horus No.5 in 1888, to Baildon Lodge’s Egyptian Temple (with surviving pieces now at Hoyle Court), and later the August Order of Light temples at Kings Arcade and Godwin Street, the presentation traces Pattinson’s role in creating a distinctive northern world of ritual, symbolism, murals, pillars, and mythic imagery. Along the way, it uncovers how Egyptian, Masonic, Hermetic, and wider esoteric influences came together in spaces that were once described for their “quaintness and originality,” yet have since been partly lost, altered, or forgotten

Custodia Borealis
‘A Vision for a Northern Esoteric & Hermetic Museum.’
In the sublime setting of the Egyptian Room, Bro.Dr Darren Hill presents Custodia Borealis—a new initiative devoted to creating a centre, museum, and archival resource celebrating the esoteric and hermetic traditions of the North of England.
The project draws inspiration from the work of T. H. Pattinson, the Egyptian Room he conceived, and the enduring legacy of the August Order of Light.
If the symbolic, philosophical, and esoteric dimensions of Freemasonry resonate with you, this gathering offers a unique opportunity to:
Listen and learn about a visionary new undertaking.
Connect with like minded brethren who share an interest in the deeper mysteries.
Contribute to the shaping of an ambitious cultural and educational endeavour.
Play a meaningful role in bringing a significant heritage project to life
Custodia Borealis invites all who are drawn to the Craft’s more contemplative and symbolic pathways to take part in building something lasting for future generations.
