The Grammar of Fantasy

We are very happy to host two illustrators from the beloved Enchanted Lion Books publishing house on March, 13th. Dasha Tolstikova and Roman Muradov will discuss their latest works on Gianni Rodari, “The Adventures of Cipollino” and “Lamberto Lamberto Lamberto”.

Doors open at 6:30 pm. Talk starts at 7 pm.

Gianni Rodari (1920-1980) was a writer, a pedagogist, a poet, and a unique voice dedicated to valuing childhood through books and animation. 

During this event, we will embark on a journey through drawings, wordplay, and imaginary friends, where Dasha Tolstikova and Roman Muradov will discuss their creative process in the world of children’s literature.

Dasha Tolstikova has written and/or illustrated books for young readers including The Jacket, a New York Times Notable Children's Book, and A Year Without Mom. Her latest illustrated book, The Adventures of Cipollino by Gianni Rodari was awarded the Batchelder Honor in 2026. Originally from Moscow, Russia, Dasha lives in Brooklyn, NY.

Roman Muradov is an Armenian artist, currently living in London, UK, and working as an Art Direction at Notion. He is the author of several graphic novels, including the recent All the Living, published by Fantagraphics. His clients include the New Yorker, the New York Times, Penguin Random House, MIT, Criterion, Vogue, Google.

Enchanted Lion Books is an independent book publisher based in Brooklyn, New York. They publish books in translation and reissues of books from the 1940s, 50s, and 60s, to find new authors and artists and old treasures to share with a new generation of readers. They have published books from authors and illustrators from the United States, to Chile, Japan, Norway and France.
