The Shades of Praise Gospel Choir is proud to announce three December performances of the arresting musical work, The Gospel Magnificat, by acclaimed Seattle composer Kent Stevenson. This one-of-a-kind gospel oratorio, a jazz setting of the Canticle of Mary, features the choir alongside guest gospel soloists, a full jazz band, and professional dancers, offering a life-affirming and joyous community arts event for the holiday season.
The production is a musical fusion that blends the energy of gospel music with jazz, blues, spirituals, and Middle-Eastern and Brazilian themes, creating a deeply moving and celebratory experience that resonates with Seattle audiences.
Performances are:
> 2 p.m. Saturday Dec. 6 at Plymouth United Church of Christ, 1217 6th Ave., Seattle
> 2 p.m. Saturday Dec. 13 at St. Therese Parish, 936 35th Ave., Seattle
> 7 p.m. Saturday Dec. 20 at Plymouth United Church of Christ, 1217 6th Ave., Seattle
