The Golden Rush Main Event
About this Event
Arizona's Premier Golden Retriever Community Convergence
Picture this: crisp October mountain air, the smell of ponderosa pines, and a literal sea of honey-colored fur taking over downtown Flagstaff. That's The Golden Rush™ — Arizona's first dedicated Golden Retriever community convergence, organized by Golden Rush Productions LLC and growing into something this state has never seen before.
The Golden Rush is built by design as a community convergence — not a ticketed, permitted event, but a coordinated gathering of passionate Golden Retriever families from across the Southwest who show up in the same mountain town at the same time, with a shared itinerary of dog-friendly experiences to enjoy together. This is an intentional choice, not a limitation: it keeps the weekend organic, community-driven, and accessible to everyone. Come to all of it, some of it, or just show up when the pines call your name.
Our anchor is the beloved Barks & Brews Pup Crawl on historic Route 66 — 8 Flagstaff breweries, 16 tastings, and 100% of proceeds benefiting the Canyon Animal Care Foundation. The Golden Rush organizes its community around this established festival, amplifying attendance and charitable impact while giving our herd a spectacular centerpiece for the weekend.
And this year carries extra weight. 2026 is the Route 66 Centennial — and our host hotel, the Americana Motor Hotel, sits right on the Mother Road at 2650 E. Route 66. The Golden convoy arrives on one of the most storied stretches of highway in American history, in the year it turns 100. There has never been a better time to make the trip to Flagstaff.
Why Flagstaff? Because USA Today named it America's #1 dog-friendly vacation destination — and it earned every bit of that title. More pet-friendly lodging per capita than any ranked city. 3rd in the nation for dog-friendly restaurants and bars. 132 dog-friendly trails. A culture that genuinely treats dogs as family. And at 7,000 feet in a ponderosa pine forest, it's a cooler, more spectacular version of Arizona that most people forget exists. For everything dog-friendly — patios, hikes, shops, and more — Discover Flagstaff's complete pet-friendly guide is your go-to resource.
Inspired by Colorado's Goldens in Golden — which grew from a grassroots gathering into a massive, multi-state phenomenon — The Golden Rush follows the same proven blueprint, built right here in the ponderosa pines.
