The Ghost Trap Rodeo Tournament Series
About this Event
Attention Titusville Boaters, Paddlers and Shoreline Walkers!
It's just like your favorite inshore fishing tourney, but instead of redfish and trout, we'll be weighing in collected plastics, derelict crab traps, and other forms of marine debris after your 4-hour search. It's all for a great cause with thousands in prizes!
Join Ocean Aid 360 for our Ghost Trap Rodeo Tournament Series, a hands-on volunteer event dedicated to protecting our coastal waters by locating and removing lost and abandoned crab traps. These "ghost traps" are important to remove because they can continue to capture marine life long after they've been lost, posing a serious threat to marine wildlife.
No prior experience is required. Ocean Aid 360 will provide safety briefings, training, and the necessary equipment. Volunteers should be prepared for a rewarding day of teamwork, environmental stewardship, and community impact. By participating in the Ghost Trap Rodeo, you'll help reduce marine debris, protect wildlife, and make a lasting difference for our coastal ecosystems.
**This event occurs during the CLOSED fishing season, all event participants will receive FWC-approved training prior to the event to ensure that no pinfish traps will be removed from the water.
