About this Event
As the current war reshapes the country’s political leadership, economy, and regional role, critical questions remain about Iran’s future trajectory—ranging from regime stability and internal reform to reconstruction, regional dynamics, and global implications. At the heart of these questions lies a deeper concern: the future of the Iranian people themselves. Years of conflict, economic strain, and political repression have taken a profound human toll, raising urgent questions about safety, livelihoods, rights, and the prospects for a more stable and prosperous future. Join the Office of Global Affairs, in partnership with the Persian Students Association and the Persian Cultural Society, for a timely panel discussion bringing together scholars and experts to examine the possible paths forward.
Event Organizers
Global Affairs is the Office of the Vice Provost for Global Affairs. We cultivate learning, research, collaboration, and intercultural exchange on Grounds and beyond to prepare our students and enable our faculty to engage thoughtfully, ethically, creatively, and sustainably with our increasingly complex and interdependent world.
The Persian Students Association (PARSA) is a nonprofit organization run by Persian students at the University of Virginia. Its mission and goals are: to create a delightful environment, rapid transition, integration, and smooth adjustment for the Persian students at UVA, to help them face educational and cultural issues here, and to strengthen the community among them; to introduce Persian culture to other students and communities by holding cultural and social events; and to provide a friendly atmosphere to enrich relations among students, faculty, other communities and associations.
The Persian Cultural Society (PCS) is an active organization at UVA dedicated to expanding the horizons of Iranian customs, poetry, language, and hospitality. We wish to engage the community around us in productive dialogues and show the true, beautiful colors of a vibrant culture. Our organization is an outlet for all members of the community, including Iranians, to meet others from different backgrounds and to create a lasting impact in the perspectives of our peers. Events we host are a medium for all members to express their artistic, comedic, poetic, and recreational interests. We furthermore seek to promote the events pertaining to notable Persians around us and to publicize their achievements.
