Fifty years after his death, Steve Prefontaine remains one of the most iconic athletes in Oregon history. Join OHS Boyle Family Executive Director Kerry Tymchuk in conversation with journalist and author Brendan O’Meara on Sunday, September 21 at 2pm about his new book "The Front Runner: The Life of Steve Prefontaine."In a fascinating biography with new insights drawn from over one hundred interviews with family, friends, and teammates, O’Meara explores Prefontaine’s childhood, running accomplishments and disappointments, the events leading up to his tragic death, and his enduring legacy in the world of track and field.
Brendan O’Meara is the creator and host of The Creative Nonfiction Podcast. He is the author of Six Weeks in Saratoga, and his writings have appeared in numerous magazines, including Creative Nonfiction, Writer’s Digest, and Trail Runner Magazine.
