Garaude
Late 60s: The Western world is in upheaval. François Garaude, from a quiet bourgeois family in Paris, felt the shock deeply. May '68 called him to adventure, and at 16, he left his scandalized family behind, hitchhiking across Central Asia. Each day brought new challenges, dangers, or remarkable discoveries. In India, François found a world where spirituality explained and shaped life. The sacred temples reminded him of the Romanesque churches of his childhood, where every detail held meaning.
His journey became a spiritual quest, but illness brought him back to France. From this experience, he gained a deep desire to find meaning in everything. And in his pockets, he carried home a topaz and a moonstone—his first talismans.
Each November, NYC Jewelry Week proudly presents ‘The Week,’ a 7-day celebration dedicated to the art of jewelry. This annual event invites a global audience to explore the world of jewelry through a dynamic mix of in-person and virtual experiences, spanning New York City and beyond.
