Join Long Island-born filmmaker Rachel Wolther as she returns to Huntington for a screening & discussion of her feature directorial debut, the hilarious comedy, The French Italian!
A fast-paced and off-kilter comedy, stacked with NYC comedy-scene-favorites, The French Italian follows Valerie and Doug (Cat Cohen & Aristotle Athari), a long-time couple in their 30s who live in a tiny New York City apartment, where they are frequently annoyed by the arguments and karaoke singing of their downstairs neighbors (Chloe Cherry & Jon Rudnitsky). After fleeing to the suburbs to escape the mayhem, they start plotting their revenge - and before they know it, they’re staging an off-Broadway play starring their nemesis. Rachel Wolther - Director/Writer
Featured as one of Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces of Independent Film, Rachel Wolther is a writer, director, and producer, who co-directed the mid-length absurdist dance comedy Snowy Bing Bongs with Alex Fischer, produced by the Oscar-winning duo, Daniels. Her BlackList screenplay, Nobody Nothing Nowhere, earned her a spot at the Sundance Screenwriters Lab in 2018. Her work has screened at the Berlinale, Rotterdam and New York Film Festivals, among others.
