THE FOUNDATIONS OF FACILITATION
Receive essential tools and insights to hold spaces centered around healing, connection, and culture change with confidence and integrity
This offering is for you if you:
-Hold spaces (or want to) where embodying your values is important to you - this can be anything from facilitating a womxns circle to facilitating meetings at your work place or co-op
-Know you have gifts to offer through group containers but you don’t know where to start
-Have done enough personal healing that you feel ready to hold others in their journeys
-Are afraid to step into facilitating more because you don’t want to cause harm
-Want to hold deep, transformational spaces but know you need to be trauma-aware to do so
-Are ready to step more fully into your power, in ways that will serve the whole
What you will receive:
-A few key facilitation tips you don’t want to learn the hard way for setting a strong container that is inclusive, accessible, & participatory
-The basic principles of trauma-aware spaceholding
-Teachings on how to hold power well in your role as a facilitator
-Some simple but powerful tools to help you receive information from a group so that you can be in better service to the whole
-Space to connect with other facilitators and reflect on how these key takeaways apply to the spaces you facilitate

WHAT IS FACILITATION & WHY DOES IT MATTER?
When we don’t facilitate a space, power dynamics do. This is why facilitation has the potential to be liberation in practice.
In the dominant culture, our “leaders” are elevated above the people and “leadership” is essential domination. In contrast, liberation-centered facilitators are in circle with the people, listening **to them and making it easier for the group to heal and learn together.
Whether you are an emerging or experienced facilitator, the spaces you hold are an opportunity to welcome people into a different culture - one that is loving and liberating.
It’s not enough to just say “this is a space where everyone’s voice matters.” As the facilitator, you are the one responsible for removing barriers to participation and making it possible for this to actually feel true for the most commonly excluded voices in the room.
This training is designed to support you with this crucial step in becoming a liberation-centered facilitator - bringing your values into practice.

What people are saying about Lux’s facilitation:
“I've honestly never experienced such a skillful facilitator. Thank you for what you bring to our community.”
- Rebecca, participant in Unwinding Conflict in the Body
“Looooooved this training! Lux holds a wealth of experience and brings heart to this work. The content was presented in ways I could easily understand, and the excercises we did with others in the group helped me to integrate that knowledge. I highly recommend this workshop, and would take any other courses with Lux in a heartbeat!
- Sean, participant in Lean into the Skid: A Conflict Mediation Training

This training draws on teachings from:
-Somatic Experiencing (SE)
-AORTA (Anti-Oppression Resource & Training Alliance)
-Right Use of Power Institute
-Kai Cheng Thom
-Consent Wizardry

Location & Logistics:
This training takes place Saturday, April 5 from 12 pm - 3:30 pm at the Ballard Homestead in Seattle.
Please arrive by 11:50 pm so you have time to settle into the space and we can start on time.

Investment:
$50-200 sliding scale
Sliding Scale Guidance:
A sliding scale is an equity-based payment structure where the participant’s financial situation informs the rate they pay for a service.
The bullet points listed below are just examples to help guide your self-assessment. I trust you to factor in these considerations and choose the level that feels right for you at this moment.
Choose a rate on the low end ($50-100) of the sliding scale if you:
-Do not have a financial safety net
-Have large debt or student loans
-Are Black, Indigenous, or otherwise systemically disadvantaged based on your identities
Choose a rate in the middle ($100-150) of the sliding scale if you:
-Can go out to eat without thinking about your finances
-Have a salaried job with benefits
-Have family that would financially support you if you needed it
Choose a rate on the high end ($150-200) of the sliding scale if you:
-Own property or other significant assets
-Make over $100K per year
-Never feel scared of not having enough
-Please pay at the highest rate that you are able to, and know that there is no ceiling. Your generosity supports me in offering scholarships to those who are unable to afford these rates.
