The Forest CERT (Lake Mary)
About this Event
The Seminole County CERT program trains local residents to assist in preparing for disaster response and recovery efforts. Within Seminole County, teams have already been established in Longwood, East Altamonte, Midway, Sanford/Goldsborough, Bookertown, Hacienda Village, and the Palm Valley communities. We are currently working to establish a new CERT team in the The Forest/Lake Mary area. Attendees learn essential skills such as disaster first aid, fire safety, disaster mental health, and other response capabilities.
This is a free 5‑week training program in which participants meet once a week for a two‑hour session covering different training modules. After completing all required modules, attendees receive a CERT backpack equipped with supplies designed to support disaster response efforts. Attendance at all classes is required to receive the disaster response materials.
Upon completion of the training, participants receive their disaster response kit and become part of a broader network of CERT volunteers who can support Seminole County during disasters. CERT members play an important role in county training events, exercises, and various public‑facing community activities.
