Join Us for a Morning Bird Walk at Morningside Nature Center!We’re trying something new this time with a later start! Meet us in the parking lot at 10:00 AM for introductions, and then we’ll head out on the trails. We hope this slightly later start will be more convenient and give everyone a chance to enjoy a warmer morning or catch up on some weekend rest.
What to Expect:
According to the park’s website, “Morningside Nature Center is one of the last remaining examples of fire-dependent longleaf pine woodlands in the area. More than six miles of trails wind through sandhill, flatwoods, cypress domes, and areas where native vegetation is being restored. Morningside boasts a spectacular wildflower display and opportunities to see a diverse array of wildlife.”
Along the trail, you can expect to see a variety of birds, from raptors soaring overhead to warblers and sparrows flitting through the grass. The trail is relatively flat and typically dry, though recent weather could make it muddy—so we recommend wearing boots. Don’t forget your bug spray!

The Flock is an independent birding group for women who enjoy connecting with nature in a safe and welcoming community. We are not affiliated with any other nature-related associations. While our group is reserved for women, members are welcome to bring guests of any gender who share a love for the outdoors to join our events!
