About this Event
Get ready for a one-day collision of sound, style, and culture. The Flavor Summit kicks off April 12, 2026, transforming The Garage at R-House in Baltimore into a living, breathing celebration of hip-hop’s global creative force.
At the heart of the day is an exclusive, in-depth conversation with legendary DMC Champion DJ Rob Swift of the X-ecutioners—also founder of the Brolic Army Online DJ Academy and one-half of Da Odd Couple with Mista Sinista—as he breaks down his powerful new book, The City of Hip-Hop. Expect stories from the front lines of DJ culture, insight into the art of turntablism, and reflections on how hip-hop continues to shape cities, movements, and identity around the world.
But this isn’t just a talk—it’s a full-scale cultural experience.
Throughout the day, the Garage at R-House will pulse with:
- Awards honoring champions in music, art & culture
- Live MCs & DJs spinning everything from classic breaks to future-forward beats
- A Producer Battle featuring Loopdiggaz vs. The Machinists
- Hip-Hop Art Exhibitions showcasing visual storytelling from the culture
- A Vinyl Record Market and curated local artists, makers, and creative vendors
Whether you’re a DJ, producer, collector, artist, or lifelong hip-hop fan, the International Flavor Summit is where Baltimore meets the world—and where the culture connects across sound, art, and community.

In-depth Discussion with DJ Rob Swift about his book, "The City of Hip-Hop"
Host: DJ 2-Tone Jones
Info: **Discussion moderated by DJ 2-Tone Jones from Shaolin Jazz.** The City of Hip-Hop positions a unique conceptualization of the history of Hip-Hop, that it was a combination of forces that produced the environment for Hip-Hop to specifically grow in the geographies of New York City and its boroughs. This book argues it was the political forces of the 1970s, combined with the economic forces of free market capitalism and privatization of public services, neoliberalism, and the social forces of the deindustrialization of major cities and displacement of populations, that led to the cultural creation of the “Boogie Down” Bronx. The City of Hip-Hop shows how Hip-Hop is a socio-political reaction that created an alternate reality with a geographic specificity, and it is the interplay with those forces that nurtured it to become the culture force that we know it today.
