The First Annual Spirit Weekend 24 Hour Dance-A-Thon

THIS is going to be EPIC! Presenting The First Annual Spirit Weekend 24 Hour Dance-A-Thon! This takes place on Spirit Day Weekend Saturday October 17, 2026 at 6pm thru Sunday October 18, 2026 at 6pm. It all happens at Queermunity at 3036 Hennepin Ave in Minneapolis. The Cafe and Center will be open to all from 6pm-Midnight on Saturday and 10am-6pm on Sunday. They will lock the doors with no one allowed to leave from Midnight-10am. Only those competing and helping with the event will be allowed during closed hours. A parking ramp is available across the street. Spirit Day and Weekend is a time we show our alliance to those struggling with being bullied and the theme color is PURPLE. We are raising money where 100% of the proceeds are going to 3 great Minnesota charities.
OUR BENEFICIARIES: Reclaim helps queer and trans youth with mental health. Face It Foundation helps men with mental health. Finally, Wayside Recovery Center helps with women's trauma care, shelter and mental health.
*We are giving away 3 prizes for those that want to enter the Dance-A-Thon. We are giving away $500 to the dancer who raises the most money prior to the event, $500 to the dancer who is voted having the best spirit attire, and $2000 will be split between the dancers who make it for the entire 24 hours minus allotted breaks. Competitors may pick 6 hours, the Saturday 6pm-Midnight shift, 8 hours, the Sunday 10am-6pm shift, or the entire 24 hours to be eligible for the grand prize split. Dancers are required to dance the entire first and last hour of their time frame. In between, they are allowed 5 minutes for every 1 hour in their time frame. Therefore, the 24 Hour time frame allows 2 hours break time in total, the 8 Hour time frame allows 40 minutes break time in total, and the 6 Hour time frame allows 30 minutes break time in total. To be eligible for any of the prizes, dancers must sign up with the $25 enrollment fee and raise at least $250 from pledges prior to the event. We will have water, Gatorade, and packaged snacks such at power bars and chips. Music is from the last 50 years, all upbeat, no repeats, beat-mixed progressively getting faster throughout the event.
That's not all! It is also 2 dance parties! If you don't want to enter the Dance-A-Thon, you can still help raise money and have fun. Saturday's party is $25 from 6pm-Midnight and Sunday's party is 10am-6pm. Dance right along with the competitors and check out this new, fun event! You also may purchase a ticket at the door.
