Step into the enchanted world of The Fairy Queen, not only Henry Purcell’s greatest work, but also one of the most lavish theatrical ventures of the period. Loosely based on Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, Purcell’s semi-opera sees an ensemble cast of singers, dancers, musicians, stage machinists and actors weave their special magic around themes of love and desire, transformation and illusion, and of nature and the supernatural. Director Mel Cantwell and Music Director Stewart Smith bring together students from across WAAPA in the inaugural production to grace the stage of the Playhouse Theatre.
