The Museum of Kansas City is proud to announce the return of The Fairy Princess, a beloved holiday tradition, in the museum’s Betty Milbank Waldrop Salon, a stunning Louis XVI French Salon located on the first floor.This year marks the 39th year that the Museum has hosted The Fairy Princess, continuing the cherished Kansas City custom that began at Kline’s Department Store in 1935. Kline’s originally introduced the Fairy Princess to celebrate their new “Toyland” Department, enchanting generations of children until the early 1970s.
In 1987, the Kansas City Museum revived the Fairy Princess, ensuring her magic would once again delight Kansas City families. Now, nearly four decades later, she reigns in a room worthy of her wonder, a place where imagination and hope still to sparkle in every child’s visit.

Parents or caretakers must select a date and time slot when purchasing tickets.
Please arrive only at your scheduled time — early arrivals cannot be accommodated.
Up to four adults per child are allowed to enter the gallery.
The Museum of Kansas City frequently videotapes and photographs participants enjoying our programs, special events, and facilities. These images are used by the Museum and the City of Kansas City, Missouri in publications, on the web, for television/cable promotions, or to use as is seen fit. The images are used at the Museum’s discretion and become its sole property.
