About this Event
Guernica 37 Chambers will host a conference at the Inner Temple Luncheon Room, on Wednesday 22 January 2025 on the topic of evolving sanctions; from UN and multilateral to unilateral sanctions.
The object of this conference is to facilitate and encourage dialogue around pertinent themes in the field of sanctions. To this end, the event aims to bring contribute to an inter-disciplinary conversation centring on the following themes:
- The rule of law - human rights, due process, burdens of proof, and principles of public law
- Contract and treaty law dimensions
- Legitimacy in international law (considering UN, EU and unilateral sanctions)
- Political motivations and implications
- Economic impacts of sanctions and sanction circumvention
- Efficacy, circumvention unintended effects
We hope event will facilitate inter-sectional and open, productive discussions on what is working, what is not working, and what can be improved on the sanctions plane.
