The Evolution of Style: Trappist Beers
About this Event
North Pillar Brewing is excited to announce the latest in its series of beer tasting events, The Evolution of Style, an immersive tasting and learning experience that explores the history and development of today's most popular beer styles. The series' next session, which focuses on the beers made by Trappist monks in abbeys ~mostly~ located in Belgium, will take place on Thursday, October 22nd, at 7:00 PM in the back room of North Pillar Brewing.
This unique event invites attendees to take a deep dive into the who, what, where, when, why, and how behind Trappist beers. Participants will learn the historical background of the religious order of Trappists, why they make beer, and what beers they make, sampling five Trappist offerings (plus a sixth, non-Trappist Belgian-style beer) and experience the subtle and not-so-subtle differences between them.
"Each of these beer tastings has been so much fun to put on, but this one might be my favorite," said Pat Lafferty, the series developer. "The Trappist session is a hands-on experience that connects the dots between the various beer styles that emerged through the decades at these cloistered abbeys. It follows the historical progression from the comparatively subdued Blond to the more robust Quad and back again. If you love big, boozy beers, you're gonna love this event!"
