The Essential Four: Tech Policies Every Small Business & Nonprofit Needs
About this Event
The Essential Four: Tech Policies Every Small Business & Nonprofit Needs
Most small businesses and nonprofits are running without a single written tech policy. Not because owners don't care, but because nobody's ever laid out what the first four should be.
In this session, we'll cover the starter set every organization needs: an Acceptable Use Policy, a Password & Access Policy, an Incident Response Plan, and an Employee Offboarding Checklist. Each one is grounded in a real cybersecurity incident from right here in Central Florida in the past month, not a hypothetical.
This is a working session, not a lecture. You'll leave with a filled-out starter policy kit covering all four policies, a real first draft ready to turn into actual written policy back at the office.
What you'll walk away with:
- A plain-English understanding of why each of these four policies matters
- A completed starter draft of all four policies
- Real local examples of what happens when they're missing
- A simple framework ("We decide, we document, we enforce") you can reuse for any future policy
This session is built for business owners and nonprofit leaders, not IT professionals. No jargon, no fear-mongering, and nothing that feels like a legal document.
