About this Event

Preview new podcasts created through The Emotional Museum, a collaborative project exploring the varied and sometimes conflicting feelings museums can evoke.

A group of seven scholars, assembled by the James McCune Smith, have collaborated with The Hunterian, working with our collections to explore the theme of the 'emotional museum'. They've considered the various emotions that a museum space can inspire, and have explore creative ways to interpret, portray and incorporate these emotions.

The group engages with trauma-informed practice and acknowledges the emotional demands of interrogating colonial collections.

Join us in the Hunterian Museum for a listening party and panel discussion, celebrating the launch of The Emotional Museum podcast series.

Refreshments will be served.

About the James McCune Smith Scholarship

The James McCune Smith Scholarship is an initiative at the University of Glasgow for Black UK students to undertake postgraduate study in any discipline. This follows the legacy of the medical practitioner James McCune Smith, who was the first Black American to gain a medical degree, which he received at the University of Glasgow in 1837.
