People for Education and Environics Institute for Survey Research present a discussion about new data from the OECD's PISA study
About this Event

Join People for Education in partnership with Environics Institute for Survey Research for this engaging and timely conversation about how Canadian students are doing relative to the rest of the world, based on new PISA data to be released this September.

PISA, or the Programme for International Student Assessment, is a global study by the OECD that tests 15-year-old students in a number of areas including reading, math, and science. Every four years, this data provides new insight into how school systems are performing across the OECD and within Canada.

Environics Institute's Andrew Parkin will provide a summary of what the new numbers mean for Canada, followed by a panel that will explore the implications for Canadian education leaders and policy-makers.

The Toronto Star's Queen's Park Bureau reporter Kris Rushowy will moderate the panel discussion with the following experts:

  • Patrick Case, former Assistant Deputy Minister, Ontario's Ministry of Education
  • Parisa Mahboubi, Associate Director of Research, C.D. Howe Institute
  • Andrew Parkin, Executive Director, Environics Institute for Survey Research
  • Paris Semansky, co-Executive Director, People for Education

The event is free and open to the public. Anyone interested in learning more about Canada's schools including educators, system leaders, policy-makers, academics, nonprofit, government, labour, and business leaders are invited to join.

Please note photos and video will be taken at the event.

A recording of the event will be available.
