The Eastern Festival is a prestigious three-day racing festival which takes place every year at Great Yarmouth Racecourse during September. It is our highlight of the year and promises 3 cards of high-class competitive racing before the season's end. With around 12,000 visitors over the three days, it is a big draw to Great Yarmouth during a fairly quiet month of the year!
Gents Day on Day 1 is where it all begins! The first day presents both high-action racing and a lively atmosphere as the festival gears up. It's Gentlemen's Day, so dress to impress and enter our Best Dressed Gents Awards. You could win an Annual Membership for 2027.
Day 2 hosts top class racing featuring the festival highlight 'The John Musker Fillies Stakes', a listed race open to fillies and mares aged three years or older, over a distance of 1 mile, 2 furlongs and 23 yards (2,033 metres).
Running since 1993, it’s recent winners have included So Mi Dar under Frankie Dettori (2016), Shaara under Jim Crowley (2022), and Sapphire Seas under William Buick (2023). The 2024 installment of the race saw Roger Varian gain his fouth win with Sound Angela under Silvestre De Sousa. The 2025 renewal crowned Running Lion, for John and Thady Gosden with Oisin Murphy on board, ending her campaign with another black type win before heading to stud. Get ready to enjoy every roar and cheer as the fillies come charging down the home straight!
The 3 days comes to a close on Ladies Day, going out with a bang! Enjoy the end of the summer and get all dressed up one final time! Soak up the atmosphere from the grandstand as the crowd cheer on their runners and riders down the home straight and across the finishing line on the third and final day of the Festival.
Dress for the occasion - get out your favourite outfit from the back of your wardrobe and brush off your best hat, Who knows, you may even catch the eye of the judges in The Ladies Day Style Awards
Hospitality, packages and admission tickets are now available for all 3 days, and don't forget out 3-day passes ensuring you don't miss out on any of the action!
