A last minute opportunity has opened up to travel from the Heart of East Anglia, through to the Capital City, in style behind a much sought after Class 66, which we are hoping to be one that has never worked a passenger train before.We leave the Cathedral City of Norwich late morning, allowing easy connections from both the South and the Midlands, heading down the Great Eastern Mainline, but not the direct route, via numerous loops and rare bits of track, in true BLS style!
With thanks to GB Railfreight and Eastern Rail Services, our Class 66 and mk2 coaching set will first power South via Trowse Down & Up Passenger Loop, before passing through the market towns of Diss and Stowmarket. Onwards to Ipswich for a further pick-up, then down through Manningtree and Colchester (further pick-up) before it's loops time... Colchester and Marks Tey Up Passenger Loop, before Witham Up Passenger Loop. Then onwards to the recently opened Beaulieu Park station where we will cover the station loop - we believe the first Charter to pick up at this new station! It’s then onwards to London, via Chelmsford Down Passenger Loop, Shenfield Up Passenger Loop and finally Ilford Up Passenger Avoiding line, before we drop down into London Liverpool Street for a late afternoon arrival.
Once in London you can enjoy an evening to yourselves, before you join us the next morning at London Paddington (or Ealing Broadway) for The Paxman Quarrier tour to Tytherington - an epic weekend of railtouring and hopefully you will all have your red pens ready!
On board we will have a buffet car serving a selection of hot and cold drinks.
All times and routing are indicative until confirmed by Network Rail. Final routing and timings are usually confirmed by Network Rail five days before travel and will be enclosed with your e-ticket. The outline planned spec is as follows:
