Founded in 1898, The National Arts Club is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission to stimulate, foster, and promote public interest in the arts and to educate the American people in the fine arts. The club hosts this 2021 Zoom presentation from archaeologist and anthropologist Dr. Jerald Milanich, Professor Emeritus of the University of Florida. Dr. Milanich charts the early 16th century expeditions to United States in order to reconstruct the social geography of the region referred to as La Florida. His talk features antique maps of Florida and the southeastern United States along with a discussion of the various conquistadores who set out to explore this vast new territory for the Spanish crown.
