The Dub Picnic!
It's almost time for the free, family friendly reggae dance on Gabriola Island.
5 DJs (two sets each)
From 2pm - 10pm
September 12th 2026, at the Gabriola Commons
Featuring DJs
Bunny Dub
RudeBoy Herron
Naytaron
Rebel Selector
& Dave O Rama
This will be the 5th annual Dub Picnic.
A free Reggae Dance held every year at the Gabriola Island Commons to celebrate the Summer season and our love for reggae music.
To celebrate 5 years of The Dub Picnic we have extended the hours to accommodate 5 DJs cooking up 2 sets each featuring a broad selection of musical subgenres gleaned from the reggae tree, including Ska, Rocksteady, Roots, Dub, Dancehall, Jungle, Future Dub, Ragga and more.
THIS IS A PACK IN PACK OUT EVENT: Please respect our Commons and take your garbage and recyclables home with you. There will be no waste or recycling containers available on site at the Gabriola Commons.
The Dub Picnic is a dance specifically intended for humans, so we kindly suggest that you leave your furry friends at home. They'll be perfectly fine without you for a few hours
This is a perfect opportunity for off island visitors to enjoy a summer day on Gabriola Island.
Visit our wonderful farmers market, camp at the Descanso Bay Camp Ground, check out our Re-Store, go swimming at the Malaspina Galleries, take a tour around the island, then come down to the Commons for a dance.
Bring: a picnic, beverages, chairs, beach blankets, water, sunscreen, glow sticks, cool lights, colourful inflatables, and even costumes are encouraged.
The Gabriola Island Commons is a short walk from the Gabriola Island ferry dock and accessible on foot. The dance ends at 10pm and the last ferry off the island is at 10:30pm
The event is totally free, but there will be a donation jar on site in case anyone wants to make a donation to help offset the production costs. But this is totally voluntary and there is no pressure to donate. Any donations will go toward the P A rental and toward ferry fares for all the DJs coming from off island.
All the DJs are donating their time and their travel expenses for this event, so donations are welcome.
But what's most important is that we fill up the Commons with joyful happy dancers. So, please share this event with your friends
Every human is welcome
