You’re invited to my Deer Hunters portrait exhibition. The opening reception is November 5, from 7 to 9 p.m.
I think you’ll appreciate the photography, history, and creative effort behind this project.
I took these portraits between 1995 and 1999 at various locations in Iowa and Sauk County. It marks the last project I would do using film. In 2015, Wisconsin ended traditional in-person “walk-up” deer registration in favor of electronic registration. As a result, a project like this today would be almost impossible to re-create.
So come for the photography—stay for the food, drinks, and conversation.
