Dallas has a rare primary immunodeficiency disease called Job Syndrome. Less than 1 in a million people have this genetic disease. In his 3 years he has had recurrent infections and pneumonias also resulting in 2 week long stays at the hospital with chest tubes, collapsed lung and pleural effusions.
After an infectious disease referred him to Cincinnati Childrens Hospital, he was found to have a severe phenotype of this disease along with severe damage to his lungs. The doctors do not believe his immune system can fight this disease. Therefore, the next step is to hopefully give him a new immune system. This happens through a bone marrow transplant which will happen in Cincinnati.
Due to the complexity of his disease Dallas and his mom (Liz) will move to Cincinnati for approx 6 months. They will live in the Cincinnati Children's Hospital and Ronald McDonald House during this time separated from the rest of their family Aaron (Dad) and siblings (Noah, Charlotte, Isaac and baby Connor). The doctors are expecting the transplant to occur in January.
