Tailoring + Alterations – The Customization Lab

Ever find the perfect piece at a thrift store or online, only to have the waist be too big or the hem too long? Don't let a bad fit keep a good garment in the back of your closet.

We all have that one piece in our closet that’s almost perfect but just needs a little something extra. In this lab, we’re focusing on creative tweaks—whether that’s adding patches, changing buttons, or experimenting with structural changes. Bring in a few items you want to transform and let’s get creative with how we can make them feel brand new and totally unique to you.

Join us at O Street Studios for a hands-on workshop designed to give you the skills—and the confidence—to tailor your own clothes. This isn't just a repair class; it’s about mastering the "art of the fit."

What You’ll Learn:

  • The Anatomy of Fit: How to pin and mark your clothes for a professional look.
  • The Magic of Tucks & Darts: Learn how to take in waists and refine silhouettes.
  • Professional Finishing: How to make your alterations look like they came from a high-end tailor.
  • Tool Kit Essentials: The "must-have" items for your home tailoring station.

What to Bring: Please bring 1 or 2 garments from your own closet that need a little love (pants with a gap in the waist, a shirt that's too boxy, or a skirt that needs tapering). We will use these as your practice pieces!
