The Craven Quartet

What is The Craven Quartet? Is it a synergistic family band with Joe and Hattie Craven at the helm? Yes! Is it a funky, soulful dose of sunshine with Jordan Feinstein tickling the ivories? Yes! Is it a jazzy, eclectic, dance-inducing romp with Anna Elva on drums? Yes! This freshly-formed unit is so many things all at once. The musicians and audience will be discovering the extent of possibilities simultaneously.

Built on a foundation of lofty musicianship, it all stems from the godfather of multi-instrumental whimsy - Joe Craven. Holding the credentials as a member of Jerry Garcia/David Grisman as well as the David Grisman Quintet, he is a human spice rack. Craven knows exactly what to add to any sonic stew at any moment, whether it be mandolin, fiddle or any of the array of percussion toys in his arsenal. The energy and joy he brings to the stage is as infectious as it gets.

Much of the same could be said about the other members of the band. Hattie is already an acclaimed jazz-soul songstress at a young age. Jordan is a grizzled veteran of the Bay Area jam scene, leveling up every stage he graces. Anna is one of the most in-demand drummers in the west. She’s a stylistic maverick who is perhaps as fun to watch as she is to hear. Together they form an organic unit from which rootsy, feel-good music flows as freely as the water of the Yuba. Delving into Americana, folk, bluegrass and whatever they damn well please, you can be sure the vibe in the Crazy Horse will be sky high on this occasion.
