COSTUME
Period style dress, eg. Downton Abbey, Victorian/Edwardian style for ladies & gentlemen. No fancy dress, and no skin on show please ladies. Costume for ladies is different from traditional turnout, which is smart evening performance or hunting wear.
FORMAT
In hand walk only. Novice ridden walk only. All other classes to include walk and trot as well as an individual show. You may canter in your individual show if you wish. Competitors may ride astride or side saddle. Gentlemen are most welcome to compete. It would be useful if competitors could provide a short resume about their costume.
RESOURCES
Facebook pages that may be handy include CES Concours Extravaganza Shows UK and Concours d’elegance Society of Great Britain (CDSGB). There are lots of different forums which discuss costume and often new and pre-loved costumes and accessories can be sourced. For those who are handy with a sewing machine patterns and such like can be recommended online too.
RIDING HATS
Up to date riding hats must be worn by ALL competitors although these may be dressed/decorated to fit the theme of your costume. This is a condition of the venue.
INSURANCE
It is a condition of entry that all competitors are covered by adequate insurance. The organiser and venue take no responsibility for any incident or accident howsoever caused
GOOD HUMOUR & SPORTSMANSHIP
The not so nice bit-
The intention of these shows is to provide a sympathetic arena for people of all abilities to compete in. We do not tolerate poor sportsmanship or any kind of bullying. The judge’s decision is final.
Any complaint should be forwarded to the steward in writing for the attention of Lisa within 30 minutes of the event happening. Unfortunately we have had a couple of reports over the years we have been running and this system seems the fairest.
As a last resort we reserve the right to request people to leave the showground.
