The Conversation Club: Are We Losing the Art of Reading? + Book Swap

About this Event

With declining literacy skills, shrinking attention spans and doom scrolling competing for our attention, what happens when books become less and less part of our culture? And what do we lose when we stop making time for reading?

For the first half of this Conversation Club, Hosted by Hannah Rinne at The Social Hub West, we'll open up a discussion about the literacy crisis, our changing attention spans and the place reading holds in our lives today.

For the second half, we're celebrating the books we love with a Book Swap. Bring your favourite book (a novel in good condition or a new copy) and get ready to pitch it to the group. We'll listen to everyone's favourite books, hear the stories behind them and discover which ones spark our curiosity. At the end of the evening, we'll swap books so you will leave with someone else's favourite in hand.
