What does the Constitution actually say, and how does it affect our everyday lives?

This engaging, nonpartisan and interactive 90-minute lecture takes a practical look at the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights—not as dusty historical documents, but as living frameworks that shape our government, laws, and individual freedoms.

We’ll explore the structure of the Constitution, the three branches of government, checks and balances, federalism, and the amendment process. We’ll then look at the Bill of Rights and examine important freedoms and protections, including freedom of speech and religion, privacy, due process, and protections for people accused of crimes.

Using real-world examples and landmark Supreme Court cases, participants will learn how constitutional principles are interpreted and applied in modern life. The program focuses on understanding rather than politics or partisanship, giving participants the knowledge and vocabulary to better understand current events, public discussions, and their own rights and responsibilities as citizens.
