The Congos er et ikonisk reggaeband fra Jamaica, som blev formet i halvfjerdserne, og som stadig optræder med sit oprindelige lineup den dag i dag. Nemlig Cedric Myton, Ashanti Roy og Watty Burnet samt Talash, som er bandets nyeste medlem. I 1977 udgav The Congos det berømte album ‘Heart of the Congos’, der blev indspillet i den jamaicanske reggae- og dubproducer Lee “Stratch” Perrys musikstudie Black Ark Studios. ‘Heart of the Congos’ kom i 2003 på NMEs liste “100 Best Albums of All Time”. På albummet finder man desuden musiknummeret “Fisherman”, som i følge musikmagasinet Rolling Stone er blandt de ti bedste reggaesange nogensinde. Men The Congos er ikke bare et nostalgitrip.
