After this holiday season I will be closing our storefront at 2003 Lincoln Ave. while I continue to attend in person events, specifically the Franklin Street Bazaar and stock our website with the most delectable sweet treats. If you have gift cards we will continue to honor them through the holiday season into next year-including at all events in 2025.
The last 2 years have been extremely challenging with the construction, the economy, and my family growing up. While having a storefront was exciting, in honesty, it was never my dream. I loved working from home, attending events, and spending as much time with my family as I could. The time when you are a family at home together only lasts a short time and my girls are getting so big-I don’t want to miss anything!
We opened during 2020 to save my home business from closing, to have a safe place to meet customers, and to grow our wholesale branch. I always envisioned our space on Lincoln Ave as a pop up during the pandemic and when it was successful I decided to make the retail side my focus.
The first 2 years were utter magic, to the point I was scouting a second location, but the summer of 2022 the challenges of inflation and the economy almost closed our doors.
It never really got easier.
Supplies cost 3-4 times as much as they did in 2020 making our wholesale line too expensive to survive. Fewer people could afford simple luxuries and I didn’t want to price out our wonderful customers with price increases. At the same time the construction across the street dropped our sales 40% over the course of a year, something I did not anticipate and crushed us.
Please know that no one is grieving this as much as we are.
Even my husband got a little teary last week when he visited me, but we know this is the best path for our family.
I am a maker, at my core, and for so long I’ve not gotten to spend real time on my jewelry, sculpture, lamp making… I’m just so busy pivoting, doing boring business stuff, and staying above water. As much as I love the shop and all of you, I need to be true to myself. The stress of all of this threw me into a health crisis over the summer and I can’t do that to myself or my family anymore.
I want be an artist, not fight everyday to pay bills.
The end of November and the month of December will be a pretty normal holiday season. There is 50 lbs. of Candy Cane Lane Soap curing on our shelves and we are working on our holiday candles. In January we will continue to manufacture all of the soap we can while in our commercial kitchen and start the process of reducing inventory that will not travel to events. Most of the furniture & fixtures will be posted on Facebook marketplace, some in the next few weeks so we have plenty of time to sell them before February 1.
We are currently working on a master list of soaps we will continue to make for events/website and the soaps we will be discontinuing once they are sold out. If you have a favorite, I recommend stocking up just in case we have a rush on certain scents. We will also be discontinuing many of our bath & beauty products, possibly our candle line.
Words fail me-the last 4 years and the special moments we have had together will travel with me for the rest of my life. I have made so many beautiful friendships in my sweet little shop, gotten to watch babies grow, made favors for your celebrations, and you have touched my life and my heart in ways I cannot express. It’s the reason that I kept running while completely empty for so long-I couldn’t give you up.
Please visit me, give me a hug, continue to tell your friends to visit, we will keep it sweet and special until the very end.
I love you. I do.
Thank you for bringing me so much joy.
