The Fly’ n B Ranch and Park has a long and colorful history, including greenhouses, gangsters and planes! On the surface it may seem plain Jane, but so much more lie beneath its quiet facade.Hear the fascinating history of the original landscaping business owner and builder,-Matthew Plews and Family. Over the years the property was sold to local gangster Smiling Charlie, and then to the manufacturing family,f the Eberhardts. Later, Johnny Bowen and family obtained the land and named it The Fly’n B, as the Bowens had airplanes and runways on the property. Wind Crest purchased the land and deeded the Park and Plews house to Highlands Ranch Metro District. What does the future hold for this former active and important property?
Our speaker, Forrest Dykstra, recently retired as the Manager of Engineering for the Highlands Ranch Metro District where he worked for over 35 years. Forrest and his family have lived in Highlands Ranch since 1982. He knew the Bowen family, the last to own the Fly’n B property and interacted many times with them over the years.
Event is open to the public. Highlands Ranch Historical Society Members are free. $5 minimum donation for all others.
Doors open at 6:30 PM. Come early and enjoy complimentary refreshments and browse our partner tables before the program.
