In October 1816, the Year Without a Summer has left Hartford cold, dark, and uneasy. Crops have failed, strange weather has lingered for months, and troubling stories are spreading throughout the region. Against this unsettled backdrop, an elegant masquerade brings together Lord Byron, Mary Godwin, Percy Shelley, John Polidori, and their Hartford hosts for an evening of poetry, philosophy, storytelling, and revelry.

But as the night unfolds, the masquerade takes an increasingly unsettling turn. Strange behavior, missing memories, and inexplicable occurrences begin to suggest that something has followed the guests into the house. As the boundaries between imagination and reality begin to blur, guests must search for answers before the evening becomes something none of them can wake from.
