Step into the Indigo Dye Village and discover the rich Yoruba tradition of Adire Alabela, where wax becomes your drawing tool and indigo becomes the agent of transformation.
Over two inspiring days you will: ~Learn the traditional wax-resist techniques of Adire Alabela ~Design and create your own symbolic textile ~Apply wax using brushes, stamps, and traditional tools ~Explore rhythm, repetition, pattern, and storytelling ~Experience the wonder of cloth emerging from the indigo vat—transforming from green to brilliant shades of blue before your eyes ~Connect with a centuries-old artistic tradition that continues to inspire artists throughout the African Diaspora
This is more than a workshop.
It is an invitation to slow down…to create with intention…to honor tradition…and to allow the cloth to speak.
Watch your fabric transform into beautiful shades of indigo while learning the centuries-old Yoruba tradition of Adire Alabela.
Aug. 8 • 1–5 PM & Aug. 9 • 10 AM–2 PM
