The Chair as a Yoga Prop
Discover the versatility of one of yoga’s most underutilized props-the chair.
Whether you’re a yoga teacher looking to expand your teaching skills or a student seeking greater accessibility and confidence in your own practice, this workshop will introduce practical, thoughtful ways to use a chair to support, modify and enrich traditional yoga postures.
The chair isn’t a substitute for the practice- it is a prop that creates opportunity, accessibility, stability and exploration. Together, we’ll examine how thoughtful modifications can make yoga more available without sacrificing the integrity of the practice.
During this workshop, participants will explore:
Creative applications of the chair for standing, seated, and balance postures.
Safe alignment and effective modifications for a variety of bodies and abilities to use the chair to build strength, confidence and body awareness
Teaching strategies to create more inclusive yoga classes
Reacting adaptations that students can immediately incorporate into their personal practice.
Please note: This is an informational workshop intended for learning and exploration. No Continuing Education Credits (CEC’s) will be awarded.
