Welcome back to Deeptastic <3
Deeptastic is a gathering of Souls celebrating life through the expression of music and dance. In this, we would like to invite you to The Celebration of the Life for our dear friend, who is not only a local musical inspiration, but also a community Artizan and personal outreach worker, Phil Sarazen.
Orchestrated by Friends of Phil in a Quest to reunite others who knew Phil…so we can “phill-up” together. Many of us have been missing Phil. We want to not only remember him, but also honour him and share his story with the world. We do this so that his work, and spirit lives on through the people he shared this life with and others…
He was and is a great inspirational friend, brother, mentor, Father, drummer. A true Musical Genius who marched to the beat of his own drums with many inventions, ambitions, and realizations that are as delightfully eccentric as he was!
His daytime job was building bike racks for Our City. However, these are no ordinary bike racks…each work a unique masterpiece that can be found all through out Toronto such as the Kensington on Augusta near Augusta and College.
The Last Bike Racks that he made were very unique pieces that shared a message that “with love we can uplift each other and The World. These monuments of good vybrations can be found at the Allan Gardens.
One of his biggest passions was drumming and the healing effects of drumming on the mind, body, and Soul. We know his Spirit lives on through the drum beat!
In the Early ‘90s, in an effort to promote Biking and Recycling, and to promote a Musical Collective called The Subtonic Monks, Phil teamed up with Peter Jarvis (better known Silver Elvis) and together with the help many local welders, and friends dedicated their time and energy towards the building of The Subtonic Monks Float Mobile!
This outstanding Musical, Mobile structure went on to inspire many generations of people, artists and musicians, specially the children. What’s today known as The Zoosemobile Musical Bike, is the only remaining one of it’s kind, as the other bikes were destroyed in the past.
Mammad Monation and Phil had plans of bringing more of a World-Fusion musical approach to The Zoosemobile Experience. Including an educational component where people can come together from all walks of life, all age groups, and experience feeling the interconnectedness, uplifting joy and inspiration that music can bring, the epitome of Universal language!
They focused on facilitating this experience of Inspiration and Positive Motivation by encouraging participation of those who would come to feel the Vybes, and bring their kids for these experiences.
Mammad has a deep, passionate heart and life long dedication to Music and Drumming. He has a love for World-Fusion sounds which give him vast inspiration and elevation . He also studied professional Drumming at York University with many renowned World Class Master Teachers for several years and has toured all over Canada, Mexico, and parts of Guatemala. Playing World-Fusion Music live and DJing, solo or, band members including long time Friend and Mentor, Eric Mandala. Eric, in years past was also a part of the Zoosemobile Crew himself!
Since 2010 Mammad has been developing his sound with an aim to bring a unique sound, both when playing live and mixing music. With over a decades worth of experience, and also being a multi-disciplinary creation artist he often bridges so many worlds of music that have inspired him, through out time and space. with an aim to capture the feeling of togetherness & bliss. With a focus to bridging the gaps, between different scenes and styles of inspirational music. This was a big part of The Zoosemobile Musical Bike during the last 2 years. In his 8 years of professional DJing experience the sets the are made for the zoosemobile have a very unique way in playing them. Universal World Music Fusion Journey where we explore deep uplifting inspirational groovy very drum-able and dance-able music from different World Music Cultures and grooves, as we are facilitating an inspirational experience that we know will have such a powerful effect in the hearts of the ones who experience it, it can be a catalyst for wanting to learn more about it, and to inspire the future generations for in having a bigger appreciation, passion, and motivation for learning the arts of drumming, and music. Seeing everyone of all ages in pure bliss whether they were dancing their hearts out, drumming away like it’s the best day of their life, climbing the bike to see the view from the top, or just being there and feeling the good vibes and having that smile on their face. That’s what Phil, Mammad and all the others who have helped this Movement from did from inception. Inspiring Inspiration for All.
We use our Light, to display what our years of hard work, practice, dedication, and discipline in the Arts, sounds like and feels like. So that we may continue to inspire the way for the future generations of Drummers, Dancers, Musicians, DJs, Music Producers & Lovers of celebrating life through the expression of Music and Dance.
Phil would mention that he sees a younger version of himself in Mammad many times when they worked together. Mammad will continue to keep Phil’s spirit alive by continuing this work, with others who have been a part of this purpose with Phil and Peter in the past 30 years. Also the ones who feel inspired in the future. As life goes on, The Beat will go on, this show will go on, Phil’s Celebration of Life will go ON!
We are inviting friends, family, loved ones, and people who are curious to find out more about Phil Sarzen, who have known him to please reach out to participate in this Celebration of Life event for Phil. We are asking fellow Loved Ones of Phil Sarzen to write something about him to share on stage with others, (if you feel so inclined!).
