ALL Competitors of all Ages and Ranks
are Invited to Compete in this 1st ever Carolina Knockdown Challenge 2026 Tournament which is semi contact / Knockdown Karate Rules.
Hosted by Shihan Mike Speagle, Head instructor of The Karate School of Oyama Hickory NC in Coalition with Hanshi Dale Lail, Co Founder of the Karate School of Oyama Hickory and former Full Contact Fighter and Champion as Special Guest!
The rules are Kyokushin knockdown rules that consist of 2 and 3 minute rounds of continuous fighting until one competitor quits and can not continue the match or gets knocked down or out for more than 3 seconds.
Half points (waza ari) are awarded if a competitor is momentarily stunned less than 3 seconds by a legal technique. 2 half points during a match wins the match.
Legal techniques include :
kicks to body and head.
Roundhouse kicks to thighs and calf
Punching and hand strikes to the body
Knee strikes elbow strikes to body
Illegal techniques include:
Punching or hand strikes to head or face
Straight kicks to the legs and any kicks to the knee
Head butting
Groin, throat and techniques to the back
Grappling, pushing, grabbing or throwing
Kids Division 5-12
Head gear, face protection, chest protection, cloth hand gear and cloth shin and instep foot gear
Teen Divisions 13-17
Head gear (optional face protection), hands and foot instep cloth sparring gear
Adult Divisions
Cloth hand and shin instep foot gear
Division trophies for kids and teens. Division medals for adults.
Adult division winners earn a spot in the GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP Competition and will compete for the grand championship belt and cash prize!!
All striking styles invited and must wear a karate style uniform. No T shirts or shorts
$60 entry fee with sign up sheet!
This will be an EXCITING and AWESOME event!!!!!
