Jason Taing (conductor)
London-based conductor Jason Taing has been remarked upon as “bringing a great interpretive sensibility, flexibility and confidence that belies his years” by composer Richard Fay. Jason is Artistic Director of the Brixton Concert Series where he has curated a number of performances, with a highlight of the 2023/24 season including directing Mahler’s Fourth Symphony with the newly established Brixton Soloists.
From 2016 to 2021, Jason was the Founder and Artistic Director of The Camerata Players and Voices, an ensemble principally comprised of musicians from The University of Manchester and The Royal Northern College of Music. As Artistic Director, he curated and conducted a number of diverse programmes in some of Manchester’s most prominent concert venues. The Camerata Voices made a premiere recording with organist Jack Redman of Philip Lowe’s setting of The Shepherds’ Carol for the Eboracum Choral Series.
In 2023, Jason was invited to be Assistant Conductor of Belfast based-ballet company Six Dance Collective’s world premiere of White Doves, assisting his mentor Jonathan Mann and collaborating with director Ruaidhrí Maguire and composer Amelia Clarkson, culminating in four shows at the Metropolitan Arts Centre in Belfast.
He has held teaching and directing posts with orchestral, choral and chamber groups as part of the European Youth Music and the University College London Music Society, and is Reserve Conductor of the London Schools’ Symphony Orchestra. Jason is Head of Music 2iC at a thriving secondary school with music specialism in London, Musical Director at Brixton Unitarian Church and Associate Pianist at The Royal Ballet School.
