Let’s go back to 25 YEARS AGO when we got the idea of starting this little goth and industrial club; to make some really cool events just the way we liked it. For some years we have had MILLENNIUM OF CONFLICTO and their CRANIUM BAR and CRANIUM CLUB catering for us Copenhagen Goths. In addition, CLUB METROPOLIS did play an occasional goth tune or two at their «Re-Load Natdisk» after the concerts; and they even booked an occasional goth act every now and then - but we wanted more goth, MORE GOTH; and we wanted to do it our way. So, after getting in touch with venue Stengade 30, we got the chance making the very first THE BLACK CAT happen there the 12th of february 2000. The first BLACK CAT was a huge success, almost being sold out. However, Stengade 30 decided that they had enough goth with their Dancecore events. Needless to say, we did not agree, so we went searching for a new venue. So, 10 months later we found the venue Krunch, formerly called Rock Amar. This would be our regular venue for 3 years.
We wanted more and we still do… The goth kids who wanted more goth and started it all were Lise, Frode, Harald, Ten, Spook, Ghost and Camilla. Frode and Lise, with some help from Harald and Ten, came up with the name and designed the club concept. Lise’s sister Tine designed the logo. A few months later, this merry crew would be joined by Mikkel and Tim. And a little later they were joined by Laura, Peter and Maiken. And then even later, more lovely individuals we now consider family. But that’s a long story. Most important part of this longer origin story is that Peter joined; because he would keep the ship sailing long after its founding parents Frode and Lise had moved to Norway in 2006; and Peter is the one still keeping the Black Cat banner flying high with Maria, Maiken, Søren, Thomas, Malene and newcomer Kathrine.
After 2006, The Black Cat still did a lot of concerts and events at many different venues. But especially legendary, now closed venues such as Faust, The Rock and High Voltage hosted a lot of Black Cat events. As well as Krudttønden, Forbrændingen, Pumpehuset, Store/Lille Bryggen and even Stengade 30.
Throughout the years, The Black Cat have been doing concerts with acts such as Death In June, Kirlian Camera, London After Midnight, Lumsk, Gåte, She Past Away, Der Blutharsch, Funhouse, Clan Of Xymox, Cinema Strange, Gothminister, Spiritual Front, Soman, Inkubus Sukkubus, Of The Wand & The Moon, Zeromancer, Skeletal Family, Blood Axis, Derniere Volonte, Winterkälte, Parzival, Beauty Of Gemina, The Breath Of Life, Birmingham 6, Theatre Of Tragedy, Welle:Erdball, Feindflug, Selofan, Crüxshadows, Psychic TV, Rome, Soror Dolorosa and many, many more.
The Black Cat decided to end all activities in 2017 with a big farewell party, but the Black Cat Crew simply missed it all too much and started doing The Black Cat events in 2020 again. And The Cat is still going strong.
The Black Cat found a new home at the legendary venue Rust in 2024. And Rust is where we will celebrate the 25th anniversary on March 8th 2025.
At the anniversary we will go back to Urbanplan; to Amager; some cold and desolate nights back in 2000; when someone dared to dream of making something new; a goth & industrial club where they could hang out and meet likeminded people; because this night in march we will celebrate the spark that started the whole thing; and gave us 25 years of music history. It’s quite mind boggling to think that 25 years have passed… but here we are again - ready to gather at our dearly beloved the BLACK CAT…. for some cake, some concerts and some dancing…. And to celebrate our 25th anniversary we have booked the amazing, the legendary ORDO ROSARIUS EQUILIBRIO to headline the evening and our dear old friends NEONSOL as support act plus a whole bunch of lovely DJs to set you in the mood for a mind boggling 25th anniversary.
ORDO ROSARIUS EQUILIBRIO is a Swedish neofolk/apocalyptic pop act formed in 1993. A dark universe filled with sex and nihilism. The act is one of the most notorious within the genre, with an extensive catalogue of great releases.
NEONSOL is a Danish act consisting of long-time friends of The Cat – and we are glad to have them back! A fine mixture of catchy synth pop, dark electro and EBM.
DJ’s will be announced soon! And this time, we have the big main room at Rust after the concerts for our nightclub with a big dancefloor! So let’s party like it’s 2000, 2005, 2010 etc.!
