The Black Beacon Trail Race is a 21-mile mountain running adventure traversing the Black Mountains from south to north.
With sweeping scenery, runnable trails, and a few punchy climbs, this race strikes the perfect balance between challenge and enjoyment. While the trails are fast and non-technical, the route still offers a sense of wild exploration—ideal for both seasoned mountain runners and those new to the hills.
You’ll be well-supported along the way by our enthusiastic team of volunteers and professional event staff, with generously stocked checkpoints to keep you fuelled and focused.
The race begins in Llangynidr and follows a stunning ridgeline over Mynydd Llangorse and Mynydd Troed, offering panoramic views across mid Wales. The trails are well-defined, with thrilling descents and invigorating climbs.
The final summit at Hay Bluff delivers a breath-taking vista over Hay-on-Wye and the finish line beyond—before one last glorious descent to round off an unforgettable day in the mountains.
