The Birthing Body: Massage Therapy for Pregnancy, Labor and Beyond
The Birthing Body: Massage Therapy for Pregnancy, Labor & Beyond
Join Elle Burget, LMT#12119, FSD, for an immersive continuing education experience designed to deepen your understanding of the pregnant and birthing body. Whether you are new to prenatal massage or looking to expand your existing skill set, this course offers a practical and comprehensive approach to supporting clients throughout pregnancy, labor, birth, and the postpartum transition.
With over 23 years as a Licensed Massage Therapist and 15 years as a birth doula, Elle brings a unique perspective that bridges therapeutic bodywork and hands-on birth support. Having attended hundreds of births and worked with countless pregnant clients throughout their journeys, she offers insights drawn not only from clinical education but from years of firsthand experience witnessing how massage can support comfort, balance, mobility, and connection throughout pregnancy and labor.
Together we will explore the physiology of birth, review the anatomy of the uterus and its supporting structures, and learn massage techniques that help create balance and ease within the changing body. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the physical and emotional adaptations of pregnancy while developing skills that can be immediately integrated into clinical practice.
This course examines the use of massage for prenatal body balancing, addressing common discomforts of pregnancy, supporting functional movement, and encouraging greater comfort within the birthing body. We will also discuss the role of touch and bodywork during labor, exploring practical techniques that can help provide comfort, support relaxation, and enhance the birth experience.
In addition to hands-on skills, participants will explore the cultural roots of midwifery and birth support traditions, fostering a deeper appreciation for the lineage of care that has supported birthing families for generations. Dedicated ethics and boundaries training will help practitioners navigate the unique considerations involved in working with pregnant and postpartum clients.
Through lecture, demonstration, hands-on practice, group discussion, and open Q&A, attendees will leave with practical tools, increased confidence, and a deeper appreciation for the wisdom of the birthing body.
