Speakeasy Live Entertainment Featuring The Big ‘R’
The Big ‘R’ Big Band are returning to Speakeasy Live, and we couldn’t be happier to welcome them back to Oxford.
After an extraordinary night with us last year, Richie Paradise and his 16-piece Big ‘R’ Big Band return on Saturday 17th October for one of our biggest live music events of 2026.
Summertown Speakeasy Live With the Big R Big Band Orchestra
They absolutely brought the house down last time.
The Big ‘R’ aren’t simply a big band that happens to play for dancers. They understand the dance floor. Describing themselves as the “Facilitators of Swing”, the band has an instinctive understanding of tempo, rhythm and what makes people want to dance. They watch the floor, respond to the dancers and build their sets accordingly.
Consequently they are the band that recreate the magic of the dance halls of the past, where the band feeds off the dance floor, and the dance floor returns the compliment. As a result the atmosphere in the Speakeasy in OCtober will be electric. You simply have to join us!Expect the sound and excitement of a full swing orchestra, performed live with an enormous wooden dance floor waiting for you.
Dance to The Big ‘R’ Big Band
The Big ‘R’ will perform two live sets, with our Summertown Speakeasy DJs keeping the dancing going before the band and during the breaks. Therefore Saturday night will feature non-stop dancing.
Whether you dance Lindy Hop, Balboa, Foxtrot, Quickstep or simply whatever the music inspires you to do, the dance floor is yours from 8pm until 11pm.

The Full Speakeasy Live Experience
Your ticket includes much more than the live music. Alongside a full 16-piece orchestra and our DJs, you’ll find our complimentary refreshments table with cheese, biscuits, cakes, dips and fresh vegetables, together with unlimited tea, coffee and squash.
There’s also free on-site parking, our vintage-inspired Speakeasy lighting and plenty of space to sit, chat and enjoy the band when you’re not dancing.
