After the end of World War 2, three veterans return from the war to their Midwestern home town. Changed by their experiences, they struggle to adjust to civilian life while dealing with the scars left by the war.
Why we're showing it: Filmed immediately after the end of the war, The Best Years of Our Lives was one of the first films to deal with the trauma of war and how it affected veterans. The picture won nine Ocars at the 19th Academy Awards, including two for first-time actor Harold Russell, the only time someone has won two Oscars for the same role.
