Local artist, Julie Gross, will present a solo art show at the beachKraft Gallery in Olney, MD, on view April 4 – April 30, 2026.
The beachKraft StudioGallery of Olney will host an Opening Reception for the artist on Saturday, April 4, 2026 from 5:00pm-7:00pm.
Julie Gross has shown her paintings at many local and online juried shows. She also shows her work at many local, Maryland and Washington, D.C. area festivals, Art fairs, and markets.
Julie explains that the content of her artworks focus on “the idea of place (in dreams or in reality) and the exploration of color in those landscapes. The interplay of color relationships is an interesting dynamic that I explore frequently. Recent works are more ‘activated art’ where I incorporate intuitive mark making as a part of the work.”
Julie’s paintings are full of intense color and impelling line-work. She says that newer works are “focused on the healing properties of color combinations and the presence of these in dream states. When painting I intuitively connect with healing energy, and place that intention in the work through color interactions. ‘Place,’ is about communicating the essence of a place, not a photo-representation of a place, but through the use of linear qualities and color. “
The paintings often show dream-like landscapes, inspired by the artist’s own back yard and other local sites. “Taking walks in the woods near my house has changed my life,” she says. “Nature cleanses energy. Healing energy is communicated through my work.”
The beachKraft Gallery is excited to show a selection of paintings by Julie Gross throughout the month of April.
See Julie Gross's artwork at the gallery, Tuesday through Sunday, 12:30 PM to 7 PM.
An opening reception will be held for the artist on Saturday April 4, 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Light refreshment will be available to guests.
Artist receptions at the gallery are open to the public and always free to attend.
