Join us for a conversation with author Oscar Perry Abello about his book “The Banks We Deserve: Reclaiming Community Banking for a Just Economy” (published in 2025 by Island Press, an imprint of Princeton University Press). Abello challenges those working for social and economic justice to support community financial institutions and to call for policies and regulatory reforms that will help tilt the landscape back in favor of community capital. The event will consist of a fireside chat-style interview between Michael Emancipator of the Independent Community Bankers Association and Abello to discuss what drove him to write on this subject and his vision for the future of community investment. There will be an opportunity for audience Q&A, and networking time will follow the book talk. Attendees will receive a copy of Oscar's book.
